The rear boss (those little hickeys that are riveted to the posterior front fender) comes loose from the rivet plate so it's doing absolutely NOTHING to support the fender & fender braces. You can see in the lensed area of the pic that separation which causes caliper covers and fender tabs to crack.

The cause of this - the supplied bolt that comes with the Bushtec fender braces is just a tad too long which means that the bolt ends (the inner bolt holding the brace and the outer bolt that holds the fender boss) meet nose to nose BEFORE the fender boss gets tight, hence all the stress is on the unsupported boss through the brace. Pop goes the boss!

The solution to that little problem is to grind a little off the threaded end of each bolt so that the one that comes from the outside will actually tighten the boss to the mount while the inside one that mounts the brace will tighten the brace to the boss.

The permanent solution for rock solid posterior front fenders is shown here, but I recommend ALSO doing the "boss fix" described above as well to ensure your bosses do not pull loose from the fender.

I fabricated braces from 2" x 1/8" aluminum that you can get at any hardware store.  Click and print the pictures for the details, but this fix also makes the front end DEAD SILENT when you go over bumps!  Awesome!
