Chrome Reservoirs Exploded

Remove the snap ring with snap ring pliers or small needle nose pliers ground down to fit the holes in the ring. The snap ring fits in a groove in the reservoir body and the ring is squeezed "in" to R&R. Before shipping the reservoir body, make sure to remove the ''figure eight'' baffle in the center bottom inside of the reservoir. It simply pulls out gently with those same needle nose pliers. Also remove the sight glass  (see below). The primary cup, which is slightly cone shaped, is oriented with its "fat" end toward the spring (it fits on the spring like a cap). The "fat" end of the spring is inserted first as the picture shows. Be careful that you don't forget the washer in the clutch reservoir. Lubricate all interior parts with clean brake fluid (DOT 4) before re-assembly. The boots should be lubricated with silicon (non petroleum) grease. USE CAUTION WHEN DOING THIS!

You can press out the sight glass. I have been reluctant to offer this information but I will with a caution. Sight glasses are not available separately and you can break them easily! It will tolerate ONE out and ONE back in. After that it gets loose and might need JB weld or replaced!

To make the press: get a 5/16 allen 3/4 long (measured from the top of the head to the end of the bolt it needs to be 1 1/4 inches so check). Get a 5/16 nylock nut and 5/16 regular nut. Run the nylock up about halfway, or enough so that you can also get the regular one on it. Put the press inside the res with the allen head on the sight glass. Holding the nylock nut with a wrench, "loosen" the regular nut with another wrench so it hits the other side of the res. Keep it straight and keep it up until the glass is pressed out. There is an o-ring behind it so don't lose it. To put the glass back in, wet the o-ring with brake fluid and insert it first. Put the sight glass in level as you can and with a 1/2" socket and small hammer, tap it in the rest of the way. Make sure it's tight.

If the glass gets bummed (likely) you can replace it with a US ROOSEVELT DIME!  Insert the dime where the sight glass was.  Fill the remaining cavity with JB Weld level with the outside of the reservoir.  Let it set overnight.  Cover the raw JB weld with a 13mm chrome allen snap cap (tines removed) with 3M double stick body molding tape or a DIME with the same stick tape..
